BorderDuel Track Classic Turns Five in 2012
The 5th edition of the BorderDuel Track Classic will be Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. The all-star track and field meet has expanded each year and now includes athletes from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, making it a great Northwest regional competition.
New for 2012 will be the addition of another distance race, the 5000m run. With the 800m run, 1500m run, 3000m run and the 2000m steeplechase already on the schedule, the BorderDuel will have a "distance carnival meet" flavor to showcase the depth of distance running talent in the region.
Returning to the meet schedule this year will be the javelin throw. The javelin is a natural for the meet as only a few states sponsor the event in high school and some of the best throwers in the nation are here in the Northwest. The throwers will enjoy having the event held on the stadium infield with the spectators being able to watch the exciting competition.
Also making a comeback to the schedule are the always exciting relays - a favorite of both spectators and athletes. The 4x00m event has speed to burn and danger waiting in each exchange zone; while the 4x400m event can bring the crowd to it feet with the dramatic changes from leg-to-leg, down the backstretch or in the home stretch. Relays teams for the BorderDuel can be either intact school teams or all-star foursomes from within a state.
Not Done Yet. Meet at the Border.
